Mardi Himal Trek
Mardi Himal Trek is done towards the western region of Annapurna. Mardi Himal is located east of Modi Khola and across the Hiunchuli Valley. Mardi Himal Trek is off-the-beaten paths and away from crowded trails. Situated just east of the Annapurna Base Camp trek, the Mardi Himal trek is a hidden gem, as few trekkers make their way to Mardi Himal’s Base Camp. Mardi Himal Trek also pleases you with the beauty of flora and fauna. You will be walking through the dense forest, beautiful villages, amazing landscapes, wildlife, panoramic mountain views and unforgettably forest of the Rhododendron flower. Trekking leads you up to 3580 meters, the Mardi himal base camp and starts from 800 meters, Phedi. Mardi Himal base camp offers beautiful mountain views of the entire Annapurna range. The trekking trails are filled up with lush forests of oak, rhododendron and it’s also considered an eco-tourism trail. And in these forests one can spot varieties of wild lives. The trek further provides great opportunity to explore rural villages yet untouched by modernity. The lifestyles of the locals here remained unchanged for ages. En-route trek to Mardi Himal Trek some great Himalayan panorama can be observed from Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m) to Mt. Annapurna (8091m), Annapurna II (7937m), Annapurna III (7555m), Annapurna IV (7525m), Annapurna south (7219m), Hiunchuli (6441m) and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail Mountain) (6988m) etc.

Day 01: Pokhara to Pothana (1,970m) 5 hrs
Early in the morning drive from Pokhara to Phedi by bus or private vehicle. Trek starts from Phedi which steeply ascends up the hill and reached Dhampus. En-route, witness some great views of Annapurna range, Manaslu and others. Further hiking will finally arrive at Pothana. O/N Lodge.
Day 02: Pothana to Forest Camp (2,550m) 7 hrs
Being trek early in the morning where first the trial passes through a dense forest throughout the day. Again witness majestic views of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna making the trek even more refreshing. En-route, you can also spot some wild animals like deer and even leopards as well as varieties of bird species. Forest Camp is reached in the afternoon. O/N Lodge.
Day 03: Forest Camp to Low Camp (3,035m) 4 hrs
Another day of walking inside the forest but upon reaching the higher elevations the vegetation changes with more of rhododendron trees. Trekking today is on a peaceful trail where the route is steep at the beginning but changes to gradual climbing for a while. Witness some spectacular Himalayan panorama and Machhapuchhre view from Low Camp is superb. Low Camp is a small place with couple of lodges providing basic meals and accommodation. O/N Lodge.
Day 04: Low Camp to High Camp (3,590m) 4 hrs
This day Himalayas are confronted even more closely. As the trail climbs higher it becomes more open and spacious with no more forests. Then it enters grassland of the high region with occasional rhododendron trees. You can easily spot a beautiful bird known as Himalayan Monal-Impeyan pheasant and Danphe in this area. It is a colorful Himalayan bird and the national bird of Nepal. Finally, High Camp is reached after walking for some time. O/N Lodge.
Day 05: Hike to Upper View Point (4,200m) & back to High Camp (3,590m) 4.5 hrs
Wake up early in the morning to observe sunrise over the Himalayas then return to lodge. After breakfast, hike up to the upper view point fro some great Himalayan panorama. The trail to upper view point is well marked through grassland with few steep sections. Overall it’s a moderate hiking which is neither too easy nor challenging. But there are some narrow and steep trails where extensive attention is required while walking. During the summer season, this area will be covered with yaks, sheeps and several yak herders’ huts. Afterwards, back to High Camp. O/N Lodge.
Day 06: High Camp to Siding Village (1,280m) 7 hrs
This day re-trace the same route to the low camp descending down. Then the trek leaves the previous trail and goes via forest heading towards the Modi Khola. After descending further you will reach Siding Village. O/N Lodge.
Day 07: Siding Village to Pokhara (2.5 hr walk & 1 hr drive)
Today, the last day of Mardi Himal Trek, trail descends to Lumre passing along Tamang and Gurung villages. Upon reaching Lumre, meet the vehicle and drive back to Pokhara.
